About IPH
The Institute for Preventive Health (IPH) is a U.S. science-led non-profit organization formed by a group of the world’s leading scientists, physicians, economists, legal and certification experts, who have been studying toxic chemicals and the harm they are causing to children globally for decades.
The IPH was set up to help implement the science-based solutions that are outlined in the seminal peer-reviewed paper ‘Manufactured Chemicals and Children’s Health: The Need for New Law’, which was published in early 2025 in the world’s leading medical journal, the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).
The IPH supports organizations both in the U.S. and around the world, who work on creating solutions to the global crisis of chemical toxicity that is causing widespread harm to the health of our children.
Solutions that we support include:
- Stronger Laws:
- Requiring rigorous pre-market safety testing for all synthetic chemicals
- Implementing rigorous post-market health monitoring for long-term risks
- Independent Safety Proof:
- A shift from presuming that synthetic chemicals are harmless to requiring proof of their long-term safety for children and infants
- Implementing independent safety testing and biomonitoring structures
- Chemical Footprinting:
- Tracking and reducing reliance on harmful chemicals in supply chains
- Safer Alternatives:
- Developing and promoting safer molecules, formulations, and eco-friendly manufacturing
- National and Global Policy Reform:
- Enacting Global Treaties and National Legal Frameworks for protecting children’s health from the harm being caused by toxic chemicals
Our support structure for third-party organizations includes direct funding, media promotion and expert educational resources.
